Dr. Garrison ... listens. I had the band before and it was unsuccessful. I knew it, but convincing a doctor of that is something completely different... Finally, I met Dr. Garrison who listened to the concerns about my band and trusted that I knew what I was talking about. He did an x-ray swallow test on me and confirmed I was right - I had no restriction with my band. He recommended we remove it and go with the bypass. I couldn't agree more. It had been a long battle and I was so happy that I finally had someone who actually listened to me. He has an excellent bedside manner and his staff and his chosen hospital (St. Clare's Hospital in Dover) was wonderful. My band removal surgery went well and now Dr. Garrison informed me he was able to get my insurance provider (Aetna) to agree to approve the bypass surgery without having to jump through all the hoop to get pre-qualified again! I cannot be more pleased. So, now I have a surgery date and I am looking forward to Take II. I feel confident that Dr. Garrison will do great and I know he is there to support me every step of the way.

Dr. Garrison is EXCELLENT! I just had my surgery... Still recovering, but I am hanging in there. Dr. Garrison has an excellent, caring personality and he along with the staff make you feel like a patient by name, not a patient by number. He truly emphasizes that there will be hard work to include eating right and exercising, but he assures that he will be there every step of the way. I believe it!!!
I love this man. he's so nice and comforting...I can tell him anything. He knows exactly how i feel .He's my guardian angel, because without him, I dont think I would have had a second chance at life.
My first impression of Dr. Garrison was that he was obviously a warm, caring person. He meets you with a big smile and hearty hello everytime you meet. Dr. Garrision participates in a full program which includes seminars prior to surgery, a good last minute walk-thru of everything right before surgery, and an aftercare program that so far has been very supportive. As a surgeon, I put my faith in him and he did a superb job. I healed quickly with no problems at all in the 3 months since my surgery date. Personally, I would recommend Dr. Garrison to anyone who is looking for a terrific surgeon who keeps you well informed and does it all with care and compassion!
I read very good things online about Dr. G -- and he lives up to that expectation! The man is wonderful. I work in the healthcare profession, and Dr. Garrison is not only the best doctor I've ever had, but better than any I've worked with or know. I met Dr. G in the elevator up to his office on the day of my consult. He was very reassuring and made me feel totally comfortable. He assured me that he would work with me even though I was unsure about my insurance (I was in the process of getting a new job which meant my insurance would be changing). During my last pre-op appointment, I was at the pulmonologist for clearance... and who walked in to say hello but Dr. Garrison!! He stopped by and heard a patient of his was in the back. I thought this was very nice of him - but what impressed me beyond belief was that he remembered me from 4 months earlier recalling details of my consult meeting with him! (I was delayed so long because my insurance did in fact change) Dr. Garrison really cares about his patients and you can tell. As for office staff -- Donna is absolutely wonderful! An angel. She gets it done despite her overwhelming schedule.
After first meeting Dr. Garrison I completely trusted him and his office staff. Dr. Garrison is very down to earth and understanding to his patients' needs. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to change their life with this surgery.

I saw several other doctors before meeting Dr. Garrison, and they were numb and inconsiderate of my addiction to food. Dr. Garrison made me feel like he genuinely wanted to treat my illness and was concerned with the way I felt about myself... I was so afraid of complications but he made me feel like I was in ample hands. Even going into the surgery room I was confident he was treating me with the best care possible. He spent time with me after surgery in the hospital and didn't make me feel like he was rushing on his rounds. He really wanted to make sure I was ok, like a friend. My mom is a RN and even she said he is the most professional, caring surgeon/doctor she has ever met. My first impression of Dr.Garrison was that he was very concerned about me. He made me feel totally at ease. Dr. Garrison explained the procedure in detail, asked me questions about myself and my life. He has a very caring manner. His office staff were kind and helpful. The one thing that stood out about him was his easy going personality. There isn't anything not to like about him. Anyone contemplating weight loss surgery would make a very good selection in choosing him for their surgery. A doctor could have good bedside manners, but his staff must also have them too. We as patients interact more with his staff than the doctor. I truly am pleased and grateful with all that Donna and Melissa and other staff members have done for me. Thanks everyone! I give everyone at Dr. Garrison's office including the doctor a 12!!! I knew Dr. Garrrison would be the surgeon for me when he came out into the waiting room and greeted each patient. I have never seen a doctor do this. He really cares for his patients. He's also very serious about aftercare, which I think is great. --- SS, New Jersey

Dr. Garrison is the best doctor. He really cares about his patients - he is genuinely concerned. Each patient is treated according to the patient's needs. Future patients should know that he is a very caring surgeon and unlike the many others that I have met or heard of, he is not out for the money, he is more concerned with getting you happy then anything else.
